Give Yourself the Gift of Self-Care!

Just in time for Valentine’s day, I am excited to feature Stacey Lohmar, esthetician at Grand Salon and Medspa, with some ideas for you (or the one you love) to pamper your body’s biggest organ.  It’s skin – get your mind out of the gutter.

Bonus:  Read all the way to the end of this interview for a special offer from Stacey and Grand Salon and Medspa!

Kristi:  I have had maybe 3 facials ever.  What are the typical costs and benefits of doing this regularly?

Stacey:  Getting facials every 4-6 weeks will help revitalize and protect your skin from the effects of environmental and hereditary issues. Facials offer a deeper clean, heightened hydration, tighter pores, new cell growth and stimulates collagen production, which promotes younger, brighter, and healthier skin.   At Grand we have three different facials to effectively treat your skin and to keep your budget happy. Our facials range from 99-199 and are all customizable to suit your skincare goals and concerns.

Kristi:  What is the skin care product that you wish people would use more and why?

Stacey:  Skin care products that I wish guests would use more is a cleanser that is designed for their skin type/condition and sunscreen! Cleansing with the proper cleanser will clean off dirt, debris, makeup and sweat, leaving the skin softer and more balanced compared to using a bar of soap which is more alkaline and can strip the skin of natural oils. Sunscreen is so important because it protects our skin from the harsh rays of the sun, which breaks down collagen leading to wrinkles, fine lines and sunspots. This also protects the cells from changing their DNA due to sun exposure which can result in skin cancer.

Kristi:  What services does your salon provide that are surprising or unusual?  What are client’s reactions the first time they use the service?

Stacey: At Grand we offer Micro needling with PRP, and medical grade chemical peels! While these are not typically unusual for Medspa’s the peeling from peels can definitely excite guests when they see all their dead skin coming off and a fresh face after! PRP (Platelet Rich Plasma) comes straight from your own body! Our nurses will draw your blood and then place the vials in a centrifuge to spin out your PRP, which looks like a gold serum. After your micro needling is complete, we place this on the skin like a serum to promote extra healing. Guests are really fascinated by this treatment, however sometimes squeamish.

Stacey has been esthetician working at Grand Salon & Medspa for 6 years. Educated at the Denver School of Botanical and Medical Aesthetics she loves all things skin and is always seeking out continued education to give her guests the best treatments and to design skin care regimens to help with their goals. Originally from Illinois, Stacey relocated to Denver in 2011. She loves to read and hike and can’t get enough cuddles from pups Chewy & Lando!
