Three Colorado Long Weekend Getaways

Looking for a break in your routine, but reluctant to join the airline chaos that is Summer 2022?  Here are some quick ideas for you.

Manitou Springs

A quaint little town adjacent to the south side of Colorado Springs, Manitou has lots to offer.  Natural springs that literally spout out from different fountains downtown (BYO Mason Jars), tons of restaurantsand shops, old houses built into the sides of cliffs, and the beautiful Cliff House Hotel all await in this charming spot.  Bonus, you are pretty close to The North Pole Santa’s Workshop for that little dose of Christmas all year round.

Fort Collins

More than just the home of my alma mater (go Rams!), Fort Collins and the surrounding area offer tons of outdoor activities (Horsetooth Reservoir, Poudre Canyon), live music venues (Aggie Theater, The Mishawaka), and restaurants galore in Old Town.  Hotel options are plenty from a budget stay at a Best Western to the stately Armstrong Hotel.

Devil’s Thumb Ranch in Grand County

You will never lack for activity or a perfect setting to relax at this beautiful mountain resort.  In summer there is ziplining, fly fishing, mountain biking, hiking, horseback riding, and paddleboarding.  Winter brings cross country skiing, the private movie theater and cozy fires.  Year round you can enjoy their top-notch spa.  Don’t miss the fabulous game room with 10-pin bowling lanes, ping pong, air hockey and more.  If you are lucky, you can crash a wedding or anniversary party!  For an adrenaline rush do the elevated ropes course nearby at Winter Park Adventure Quest.
