How to Thank Your CPA

…and anyone else who may deserve a show of gratitude, need a pick-me-up, or merit a congratulations.

First of all, I’d like to publicly thank my CPA, Elizabeth Moore of Ryan Gunsauls, O’Donnell, PC.  Not only does she put up with my chronically late information submissions, but there is also no one I’d rather have happy hour, volunteer time, or a weekday ski adventure with.

For thanking someone the minute you think about it (say, your CPA on April 1st), there is no better investment than an online gifting service.  You can choose a gift by price point or category, or even allow your recipient to choose their own.  You don’t have to know their mailing address, just e-mail and phone number.

Your recipient gets and email or text with your heartfelt expression of thankfulness (or whatever) and they enter their address to receive the gift.

No trips to the post office, no worrying about sending something they won’t like, just a few clicks, a sincere message, and you have made someone’s day.

The one I use is Sugarwish, but there are many others.  Goody, and Caroo, have recently caught my eye.

Some ideas for when to send an online gift:

  • Congratulations on your new job/baby/Tony Award/divorce/retirement.
  • Feel better when your boss/kids/co-workers/life partner is behaving in a less than optimal manner.
  • Thank you for the client referral/job recommendation/long conversation where I complained a lot.
  • Thinking of you during your job loss/bereavement/convalescence/bad hair day.

The possibilities are endless.  So much so that I’m thinking of adding a second service to my roster because I may be getting repetitive with the current set up.

Sure, a thank you note is great, but a cookie is better.
