Are You Missing Money?

Super short blog this week for a quick tip on how you might find some extra money. And put it in your retirement investments, of course!

The National Association of Unclaimed Property Administrators has endorsed a website to help find missing assets.  It might be inactive brokerage accounts, uncashed checks from corporations/banks/insurance companies/municipalities, or unclaimed safety deposit boxes.

You can go to Missing Money, enter your name, and see what comes up.  I did it for myself and found something that was very easily identified as mine.  A couple of weeks later, voila, a check in the mail!

You may find nothing, or you may find $10, or you may find $10,000.  Either way, it’s easier than renting a metal detector.
