If this pandemic has taught us anything it is that everyone has questions, problems, goals, victories, losses, fears, gains, excitement, despair, greed, generosity, and insecurity about money. You don’t have to be poor to worry about money or rich to deserve financial help.
That’s right, everyone can use a financial adviser, and you don’t have to be rich to get one. I have people tell me, “When I get some money, I’m going to hire you.” Why not try getting financial advice now so you can get some money saved up?
How Financial Advisers Work
There are many financial advisers whose primary business is managing investments. Clients give them trading authorization to change investments around on their behalf and the adviser charges an annual fee for the service. This is called the Asset Under Management (or AUM) model. Often AUM advisers have a minimum account balance of $250,000 and up for a client relationship.
That’s a common way to work with a financial adviser, but it not the only way!
My business model is to charge by the hour for financial advice. For $250, I’ll answer as many of your money questions as you can handle in an hour. Do you need $250,000 to work with me? Nope! Just $250 to pay my bill. 😊
Financial adviser friends of mine have ready-made programs to help you create a budget and stick to it. Or offer help with improving your credit and structuring student loan payoffs. These services can change your whole relationship with money and help you move from debt-servicer to saver-investor. Ask me and I’ll refer you.
A Fidelity or Schwab branch office has salaried employees who can help you start your first Roth IRA or teach you the basics of mutual fund investing. Your employer may offer the chance to sit down with a financial adviser from the 401(k) company. Sign up and ask your questions!
Financial advice is not reserved for the wealthy. It is for the curious, the industrious, the just-starting-out, and the not-sure-if-I-can-retire. Wonder what kind of adviser is right for you? Schedule a 15-minute phone consultation with me and I’ll help guide you.
