5 Free Exercise Apps

Getting tired of the same neighborhood walking route?  Looking to freshen up your workout without breaking the bank?  Here, recommended by friends, are 5 exercise programs ideas that are inexpensive and Dr. Brix approved*.

Yoga with Adriene on YouTube

Nearly 8 million subscribers can’t be wrong!  From Yoga for Golf to back pain relief to building your core strength, Adriene has you covered.  Enjoy the 500 free yoga videos.  https://www.youtube.com/user/yogawithadriene

Barre 3

This is a combo of yoga, Pilates and mindfulness all wrapped up in a GREAT community! It is a studio workout in normal times, but they livestream classes now and have an entire library from which to choose… classes anywhere from 10-60 minutes by fabulous instructors!

NiaTV

A sensory-based movement practice that draws from martial arts, dance arts and healing arts. It empowers people of all shapes and sizes by connecting the body, mind, emotions and spirit. Classes are taken barefoot to soul-stirring music in more than 45 countries.  Available in app stores near you.  This is a subscription based service, but there is a free 30-day trial.

SoulCycle Radio

These workouts are located on Sirius XM.  It’s not just about the bike!  Soul Cycle instructors offer workouts without equipment. It’s strength training and some cardio (like jumping jacks). There are also some running workouts.  The Peloton app is also offering non-bike workouts and a free 90-day trial.

Last, right up my alley, are a bunch of 7-minute workout options in the app store.  Really, if you can’t commit to 7 minutes of exercise, that COVID-19 pounds isn’t going anywhere.

*Not really – I didn’t run this by her first.
