My name is Kristi Sullivan, and I have been helping people achieve financial security since 1996.

I am a proud alumnus of Colorado State University – go Rams!  I have worked for Great-West Life and Fidelity Investments, helping people make good financial decisions within their employee benefits packages and personal investments.

Sullivan Financial Planning, LLC was formed in 2007 to provide clients exactly the type of help they need, without corporate sales quotas directing the recommendations.

I am a Certified Financial Planner™ licensee and hold myself to the fiduciary standard. That means I put clients’ interests before my own when providing financial information.

Professional associations provide education, referrals, business resources, and friends to the small business owner. Helping to keep up on my knowledge and sanity are: The Financial Planning Association, and The Alliance of Professional Women.

My downtime is spent with my husband and two sons. I am always up for a ski day, travel, seeing plays, working on jigsaw puzzles, and reading a good book. I wish I could paint someday and will take art lessons.

Community Service

Community involvement is important to me.  Service organizations that receive my time and money are KPMG’s Family for Literacy, The Alliance Foundation, the Denver Alumnae of Chi Omega, and pro-bono opportunities offered through the Financial Planning Association.

My Philosophy

The advice given at Sullivan Financial Planning is meant to benefit the client, not the advisor.
I stick by the following principles:

  • Financial success can be achieved by using disciplined savings habits and traditional, low-cost investment products.
  • The protection of your assets through proper insurance and estate planning is critical.
  • Day trading, market timing, or untested investment products do not work in the long run.
  • I do not have time to research individual stocks to decide what is a good buy and sell price.  Chances are, you don’t either. Therefore, I only advise on mutual funds and Exchange Traded Funds (ETFs).
  • Investment advice is not based on fleeting market conditions, but by using a diversified asset allocation model.  I encourage you to buy, hold, and occasionally rebalance to your target asset percentages.

Don’t believe the people on TV telling you it’s that personal finance is easy.
It can be confusing and good advice will save you time and money.
Major money decisions should not be made based on what you skim on the internet.

Think about all the things that you pay someone to do because you don’t have the expertise or time to do them well yourself: Haircuts and color, landscaping, house painting, dry cleaning, exercise with a personal trainer, gutter cleaning, children’s math tutoring. Surely, your financial health is just as important as these things!
